NORTH DARTMOUTH, MA- Junior Linee Mello-Frost (New Bedford, MA/New Bedford HS) of the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's track and field team has received a conference honor.
Mello-Frost has been named Little East Conference Women's Track Athlete of the Week.
Mello-Frost won both the LEC and New England Alliance titles in the 100 meter hurdles when she finished first in 15.28 seconds. She ran 15.19 in the trials, and that mark broke the UMass Dartmouth, LEC and Alliance records. She also ran the first leg for the 4 x 100 meter relay team, which finished first in the LEC and second in the Alliance. The team of Mello-Frost, freshman Jillian Van Ness (Agawam, MA/Agawam HS), freshman Shannon Singletary (Brockton, MA/Brockton HS) and junior Briley Morrill (Whitman, MA/Whitman-Hanson HS) broke the school and LEC records with their time of 49.75 seconds.
"Linee continues to improve each week," said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach Steve Gardiner. "She had a great day in the hurdles, and ran an outstanding lead-off leg on the 4 x 1 relay."
