Against Western Connecticut, senior outside hitter Allie Mastrocola (Swansea, MA/Case HS) led the Corsairs with 12 kills, while senior middle blocker Cami Ascher (Natick, MA/Natick HS) added seven. Junior setter Jess Goncalves (New Bedford, MA/New Bedford HS) had 24 assists and four service aces, senior middle blocker Kaitlin Hogan (Tewksbury, MA/Shawsheen HS) had five blocks, senior libero Shannon Brodie (Chelmsford, MA/Chelmsford HS) had 13 digs, and Mastrocola had 11. "We played well against a very good team in Western Connecticut," said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach Steve DeRossi. "Defense was our strong suit, we had a lot of extended rallies and we won a lot of them, but when they got the ball into the middle, we couldn't shut them down. Our hitting was more efficient, we only made seven errors. We had a good game in serve receive against Framingham, with only one reception error for the entire match. Cami and Allie played two of their better matches of the season. In the third set, we were able to get everyone into the match."
The Corsairs are now 14-17 and 1-6 in the Little East Conference, while Western Connecticut State is 24-8 and 6-2 in LEC play and Framingham State is now 19-12. Western Connecticut advances to next week's Little East Conference playoffs, while Framingham will participate in the MASCAC playoffs. The matches were the final action of the season for UMass Dartmouth.
