DANBURY, CT-The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's volleyball team dropped a pair of matches to host Western Connecticut State and Connecticut College in a tri-match at Feldman Arena Saturday.
The Corsairs fell to WCSU, 25-21, 30-28 and 25-18, and then lost to Connecticut College, the top-ranked team in New England, 25-16, 25-19 and 25-17.
In the opener, senior setter Jess Goncalves (New Bedford, MA/New Bedford HS) had 26 assists, freshman outside hitter Stephanie Antoine (New Bedford, MA/Greater New Bedford Vo Tech HS) had 18 kills, and freshman libero Linsay Boulay (Swansea, MA/Case HS) added 13 digs. Against the Camels, Goncalves had 12 assists, Antoine had 10 kills, and Boulay had 23 digs.
"We had a few up and down moments, but given the quality of the opposition, we played pretty well," said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach Steve DeRossi. "Western Connecticut tied UMass Boston for the best record in the Little East, while Connecticut College is the number one ranked team in New England. We played pretty well, and playing teams like this gives us a chance to see where we want to be."
The Corsairs are now 20-9 and 1-6 in the Little East Conference. Western Connecticut is 18-11 and 6-1 in the LEC, while Connecticut College is 20-2. The matches marked the final action of the season for the Corsairs.
