Volleyball Picked Seventh in LEC Pre-Season Poll

NORTH DARTMOUTH, MA-The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's volleyball team has been picked to finish seventh in the annual Little East Conference pre-season poll.

The Corsairs received 14 points in the poll, one point ahead of eighth-place Southern Maine.

Defending champion UMass Boston was picked to finish first with 63 points and seven of the eight first place votes. Keene State received the other first place vote, and the Owls and Western Connecticut State tied for second with 52 points each. Eastern Connecticut State and Plymouth State were chosen to finish fourth and fifth, with 35 and 33 points, respectively, while Rhode Island College was picked to finish sixth with 26 points.

"With our unexpected loss of five players, seventh is a logical ranking," said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach Steve DeRossi. "However, I expect there will still be a lot of competitive volleyball being played in the Tripp Center this fall."

The Corsairs finished 20-8 overall last year. UMass Dartmouth will begin their 2013 schedule when they visit Salve Regina Wednesday, September 4th.
