Volleyball Continues Hot Start With 3-1 Non-League Victory Over Elms

DARTMOUTH, Mass. --  Junior Nicole Silverman (Chelmsford, Mass.) registered 17 kills and seven digs as UMass Dartmouth remained unbeaten on the young season with a 3-1 non-league college volleyball victory over Elms Thursday evening at the Tripp Athletic Center.

Senior Amanda LaCroix (East Freetown, Mass.) added a double-double effort of 11 kills, 14 digs and four service aces for the host Corsairs (5-0), who dropped a 25-19 opening set decision but took the next three sets by scores of 25-18, 25-19 and 25-20.  Senior Kristy Walton (Fairhaven, Mass.) chipped in with 10 kills for UMass Dartmouth, which received three kills and four digs from freshman Molly Porch (New Hartford, Conn.).  Junior Jordan Rittberger (Huntington, N.Y.) collected 36 set assists, 11 digs and five service aces for the winners, who received 18 digs from junior Jillian Sykora (Waterford, Conn.) along with six digs from freshman Charleen Lamagna (Pembroke, Mass.) in continuing their best start in six years.

Senior Danielle Redding (Las Vegas, Nev.) notched a double-double performance of 11 kills, 11 digs and two service aces in the setback for the visiting Blazers (6-2), who received six kills and eight digs from junior Hannah Adams (Deerfield, Mass.).  Sophomore Ayanna Meadows (Springfield, Mass.) chipped in with five kills and nine digs for Elms, which received 16 set assists and 11 digs from sophomore Dakota Stewart (Victoria, Tex.) to go with eight set assists from sophomore Govanna Rosado (Humaco, P.R.).

UMass Dartmouth travels to Gorham, Maine on Saturday afternoon to take on host Southern Maine and Maine Maritime in a tri-match beginning at Noon, while Elms heads to Biddeford, Maine on Saturday afternoon to square off with the University of New England in a non-league outing that begins at 1:00 pm.
