QUINCY, MA-The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's volleyball team won their fifth consecutive match Wednesday night, defeating visiting Eastern Nazarene in a non-conference match at the Lahue Physical Education Center, 25-19, 25-20 and 26-24.
Senior outside hitter Allie Mastrocola (Swansea, MA/Case HS) led the attack for the Corsairs with 18 kills, senior middle blocker Cami Ascher (Natick, MA/Natick HS) added seven kills, junior setter Jess Goncalves (New Bedford, MA/New Bedford HS) had 28 assists, senior libero Shannon Brodie (Chelmsford, MA/Chelmsford HS) had nine digs, and sophomore middle blocker Tahirah Gibson (Norwood, MA/Norwood HS) had three blocks.
"This was a good win for us," said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach Steve DeRossi. "We corrected some things from the first time we played them in our tournament. We play Roger Williams tomorrow, and we will have to be in top form, since they are big, they play hard, and they are one of the top 15 teams in New England."
The Corsairs improved to 6-1 with the victory, while the Lions dropped to 4-4 with the defeat. UMass Dartmouth will return to action when they host Roger Williams Thursday evening.
