NEWTON, MA-The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's volleyball team defeated host Lasell in four games in a non-conference match at the Lasell College Athletic Center Tuesday evening. The Corsairs won, 25-18, 25-18, 21-25 and 25-14.
Junior outside hitter Eleni Tsaparakis (Norwalk, CT/Norwalk HS) led the UMD offense with 17 kills, while freshman setter Jessica Goncalves (New Bedford, MA/New Bedford HS) had 25 assists. "We wanted to correct what went wrong last weekend, and tonight, the intensity and the focus were there," said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach Steve DeRossi. "In addition to our good offensive performances, (sophomore libero) Stacey Miner (Greenfield, MA/Greenfield HS) and sophomore libero Amanda Micco (Waltham, MA/Waltham HS) did a good job of receiving serves. We were able to give everyone a chance to play, and it's good to get back in the win column and look forward to our match on Saturday."
UMass Dartmouth improved to 8-2 with the victory, while Lasell dropped to 4-7 with the defeat. The Corsairs will travel to Elms on Saturday.
