BOSTON, MA-The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's volleyball team lost to host Emerson and Colby-Sawyer in a non-conference tri-match at the Bobbi Brown and Steven Plofker Gym Saturday.
Emerson won, 25-16, 25-21 and 25-15; while Colby-Sawyer was victorious, 25-14, 25-21 and 25-21.
Senior middle blocker Cami Ascher (Natick, MA/Natick HS) had eight kills to lead the way against the Lions, while senior outside hitter Allie Mastrocola (Swansea, MA/Case HS) and freshman outside hitter Madison Shea (Millis, MA/Millis HS) each had five. Junior setter Jess Goncalves (New Bedford, MA/New Bedford HS) had 22 assists, while senior libero Shannon Brodie (Chelmsford, MA/Chelmsford HS) had 11 digs, and Mastrocola had 10.
Against the Chargers, Goncalves had 20 assists, Mastrocola had 14 kills, and Brodie had 11 digs.
"I thought we had a shot at Emerson, but we just didn't have the horses," said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach Steve DeRossi. "Shannon was outstanding all day on defense, and on serve receptions."
The Corsairs are now 11-12, while Emerson is now 17-5 and Colby-Sawyer is 13-13. UMass Dartmouth will return to action when they visit Suffolk Tuesday.
