WATERFORD, CT- The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth women's cross country team finished 13th of 17 teams, while the men did not receive a team score at the Connecticut College Invitational, hosted by Connecticut College at Harkness Memorial State Park Saturday.
The women scored 330 points. Rutgers was first with 45. The Corsair men only had four entrants. Southern Connecticut State won the men's race with 52 points.
For the women, freshman Katie Sheehan (Scituate, MA/Scituate HS) led the way for the second week in a row, finishing 42nd in 23:40 for the 6000 meter race. Junior Courtney Testa (Hopkinton, MA/Hopkinton HS) was 53rd in 24:09, senior Meaghan Bohigian (Barre, MA/Quabbin Regional HS) finished 88th in 24:59, freshman Samantha Roderigues (Somerset, MA/Somerset HS) was 126th in 25:59, freshman Carolyn Cornell (Abington, MA/Cardinal Spellman HS) was 130th, in 26:06, senior Stacey Dybel (Littleton, MA/Notre Dame Academy) finished 136th in 26:15, freshman Renee Laurencelle (Tyngsboro, MA/Tyngsboro HS) was 162nd in 27:31, and senior Megan Oliveira (Somerset, MA/Somerset HS) was 173rd in 27:55.

"In the women's race, Katie Sheehan continued to impress," said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach Jon Hird. "The field included some of the top Division III teams from New York and New Jersey, and finishing as high as she did for a freshman is very good. Courtney Testa improved from her race here last year, and fellow freshman Carolyn Cornell is starting to come around. This is the only time we will run a race at this distance before regionals. We kept three of our men home to allow them to rest up from little nagging injuries. Those that ran did run well, with everyone running as fast as or faster than they did last week. It was nice to get one more meet in before the conference meet in two weeks. "
The Corsairs will return to action when they host the Little East Conference and New England Alliance Championships in two weeks.
