NORTH DARTMOUTH, MA-For the second week in a row, a member of the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth cross country team has been honored by the Little East Conference.

Freshmen Katie Sheehan (Scituate, MA/Scituate HS) was named LEC Rookie Female Runner of the Week. It's the second time that Sheehan has been so honored.

At last Saturday's Connecticut College Invitational, Sheehan led the Corsair runners for the second time this season, finishing 42nd overall in 23:40 for the 6000 meter race. It was the first time the Corsairs had run a race of that distance this season.

"Katie shouldn't watch TV or read the newspapers, she should keep everything the same, because she's running really well right now and we don't want anything to disrupt that," said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach Jon Hird. "Katie is ambitious, she loves to see how fast she can run, and she has a racing spirit that infects everybody."

The Corsairs will return to action when they host the Little East Conference and New England Alliance Championships a week from Saturday.
