Two Corsairs Earn LEC Cross Country Honors

NORTH DARTMOUTH, MA-Two members of the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth cross country team have been honored by the Little East Conference.

Junior Chris Jordan (Taunton, MA/Taunton HS) has been named LEC Men's Runner of the Week, while sophomore Katie Sheehan (Scituate, MA/Scituate HS) was named LEC Women's Runner of the Week.

Jordan led the way for UMass Dartmouth at Saturday's Roger Williams Invitational, finishing eighth overall in 17:23. Sheehan (Scituate, MA/Scituate HS) also paced the Corsairs, placing fourth in 20:33.

"Both Chris and Katie deserved their awards," said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach Jon Hird. "Both of them worked very hard over the summer, and it is rewarding to see that kind of work being rewarded on the race course. Katie really attacked her training during the summer, and she made some really good adjustments in her pace from last week to this week. Chris continues to be a leader for our young team, and young teams like ours really need leadership to be successful."

The Corsairs will return to action when they host the UMass Dartmouth Invitational this Saturday.
