UMass Dartmouth sophomore righthander Tucker Hetherman was named as the Little East Conference Baseball Pitcher of the Week on Monday afternoon for his efforts in last Tuesday’s 7-0 league victory over third-ranked Southern Maine at the UMD Baseball Field.
A native of Webster, Mass. and a graduate of Bay Path Regional Vocational Technical High School, Hetherman scattered five hits and recorded a strikeout in 7 1/3 scoreless frames against the Huskies, and he picked up his second win over a nationally-ranked team of the season. Tucker also topped then 23-ranked UMass Boston by an 8-2 margin back on March 23rd in a Little East road clash, as he struck out six over six innings of work. On the season, Hetherman has posted a 2-1 overall mark with a 3.57 earned run average, as he has fanned 15 in 22 2/3 innings to date.
Head Coach Bob Prince’s squad, which stands at 10-12 overall and 4-4 in Little East play, returns to action on Thursday afternoon when the Corsairs travel to Beverly, Mass. to take on Endicott in a non-league outing that begins at 3:30 pm EDT.
