John Cordasco Earns Two More Weekly Honors

Nov. 3, 2011

NORTH DARTMOUTH, MA-Senior linebacker John Cordasco (Rockaway, NJ/Morris Knolls HS) of the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's football team has earned two more honors.

Cordasco, who was earlier named New England Football Conference Defensive Player of the Week, has been named to the Team of the Week, and has been named Eastern College Athletic Conference Division III North Defensive Player of the Week.

One of four linebackers and one of 11 defensive players to be honored by, Cordasco was named to a team chosen from all NCAA Division III football-playing schools across the nation. He was honored for his play against Curry last Saturday, when he made nine tackles (all solos), forced a fumble, recovered it and returned it for a touchdown, and intercepted a pass and returned it for 25 yards. The touchdown was his fourth defensive score in five weeks.

"John had an outstanding game against Curry," said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach Mark Robichaud. "He has had arguably one of the best defensive seasons in UMass Dartmouth history. He is a premier player at the Division III level, and he is also an outstanding student and young man."

Cordasco is one of 11 seniors who will be honored prior to Saturday's regular season finale against Western New England, which is Senior Day.
