GORHAM, Maine -- The UMass Dartmouth golf team placed seventh at the two-day Southern Maine Invitational that took place on the par 71 layout at the Gorham Country Club.
Sophomore Garrett Lane (Tewksbury, Mass.) and freshman Ethan Johnson (Attleboro, Mass.) tied for 21st place to lead the way for the Corsairs, as both players fired two-day totals of 161. Lane recorded UMass Dartmouth’s low round of the day with a 78 on Monday, while Johnson registered respective rounds of 80 and 81.
Freshman Daniel Strode (Bourne, Mass.) as next in 26th place with a two-day total of 84-85-169 for the Corsairs, while freshman Ryan Muniz (Gloucester, Mass.) and sophomore Paul DeSantis (Pembroke, Mass.) rounded out the scoring with respective 27th and 31st place scores of 90-81-171 and 89-89-178.
Southern Maine captured the team title with a score of 597, as the Huskies topped runner-up Castleton (615) and third place University of New England (631) for the crown.
UMass Dartmouth returns to Vacationland next weekend to compete at the 2019 Great Northeast Athletic Conference Championships hosted by Saint Joseph’s (Maine), as action begins on Saturday morning at the Biddeford-Saco Country Club at 10:00 am.
