NORTH DARTMOUTH, MA-The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's men's golf team posted a team score of 327 and a two-day total of 631, good for a 19th place finish in the 24-team field at their first tournament of the season, Middlebury's Duke Nelson Invitational, which concluded Sunday at the par-71 Ralph Myhre Golf Course. Skidmore finished first place with a score of 588.
Senior George Gillmore (Cotuit, MA/Barnstable HS/Fairfield) shot a 73 Sunday and finished with a 36-hole total of 153 and a tie for 19th place overall. Senior Nick Jagoe (Westport, MA/Westport HS) shot an 82 for a total of 163 and tied for 72nd, freshman Max Omer (Longmeadow, MA/ Longmeadow HS shot an 82 for a total of 170 and tied for 95th, junior Matt Connolly (Lynnfield, MA/ Lynnfield HS) shot a 90 for a total of 172 and tied for 98th, and junior John Coucci (Mattapoisett, MA/Old Rochester Regional HS) came in at 94 and finished at 175 and tied for 108th.
"George Gillmore had an excellent tournament," said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach Joel Baptista. "He began to play very well towards the end of last year, and we were waiting for him to turn in a round like he did today. Hopefully, he can continue to play well consistently. Overall, we have to play better as a team if we want to have a chance at competing."
The Corsairs will return to action at the Eastern College Athletic Conference championships in two weeks.
UMASS DARTMOUTH GOLF
