Men's Lacrosse Picked Third in Annual LEC Poll

NORTH DARTMOUTH, MA-The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's men's lacrosse team has been picked to finish third in the Little East Conference this season.

The Corsairs were picked third in the annual LEC pre-season coaches' poll.

Eastern Connecticut State was picked to finish first, receiving six of the eight first-place votes and 55 points in the poll. Keene State received one first place vote and 52 points, while UMD got 41 points, eight points more than fourth-place Plymouth State and Western Connecticut State, who tied with 33 points each.

UMass Boston and Southern Maine tied for sixth with 25 points, and Salem State was rated eighth with 23. The Vikings received the other first place vote in the poll.

"It's a pre-season poll that's based on the past two years' performance," said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach Kevin Mahoney. "Our team has worked very hard, and it's a testament to their dedication. We have a good group coming back, we hope that we get better every day, we're excited about the upcoming season, and we're looking forward to our first game."

The Corsairs open their 2013 season against Norwich Saturday, March 2nd at Cressy Field.
