NORTH DARTMOUTH, MA-The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's men's soccer team won their third straight conference game defeating visiting Rhode Island College, 4-1,  in Little East Conference action at Cressy Field Saturday.

Freshman forward Aelaf Solomon (Framingham, MA/Framingham HS) had his first career multi goal game to lead the Corsairs to victory. Solomon opened the scoring in the 29th minute when he raced past two defenders and chipped the ball over a diving keeper. He struck again two minutes into the second half when found the back of the net off a pass from junior forward Victor Ferreira (St. Michael, Portugal/New Bedford HS).

The Corsairs added to their lead in the 62nd minute when sophomore defender Josh Chao (New Bedford, MA/New Bedford HS) scored off a free kick from outside the penalty area for his first tally of the season. The Anchormen responded, cutting the deficit to two just five minutes later when freshman midfielder Camilo Estrada (Pawtucket, RI/Tolman HS) converted a pass from sophomore forward Emmanuel Asiedu (Lincoln, RI/Lincoln HS).

UMD would respond in the 81st minute when Ferreira found the back of the net for his third goal of the season to cap the scoring.

"We love playing at home and this was a big conference win for us," said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach Henry Almeida. "Mike (Phelan) came up big for us when he had to as he has done throughout his career and our back line played great anchored by senior captain Brady Paradis (Tiverton, RI/Providence Country Day). This was a big win for our seniors as they beat RIC for the first time. It's another big moment for this senior class."

The Corsairs outshot the Anchormen, 20-7. Junior goalkeeper Mike Phelan (Carver, MA/Carver HS) made three saves and freshman Tyler Mandeville (Webster, MA/Bartlett) made a save for UMD, while sophomore Christopher Duarte (Cumberland, RI/Cumberland HS) made five for RIC.

UMass Dartmouth improved to 7-2-0 and 3-0-0 with the victory, while the Anchormen fell to 2-6-1 and 1-2 in LEC play with the defeat. The Corsairs will return to action when they host Roger Williams next Thursday. RIC will host Montclair State Tuesday.
