MANSFIELD, Conn. -- Sophomore Patrick Agyemang (East Hartford, Conn.) netted a goal and an assist to lead Eastern Connecticut to a 4-1 Little East Conference men’s soccer victory over UMass Dartmouth Saturday afternoon at McCarthy Field.
The host Warriors (7-0, 1-0 LEC) jumped out to a 3-0 advantage in the opening 17:08 of action, as sophomore Will Toomey (Willington, Conn.) and freshman Andres Mayuri (West Hartford, Conn.) also tallied in that stretch. Senior midfielder Junior Monteiro (New Bedford, Mass.) got the visiting Corsairs (4-2, 0-1 LEC) on the board in the 26th minute with his fifth goal of the season on a feed from fellow senior Nate Pacheco (Somerset, Mass.), and junior Emmanuel Agyemang (East Hartford, Conn.) provided an insurance tally in the 56th minute for Eastern Connecticut to account for the final margin.
Junior Kyle Boutot (Tolland, Conn.) picked up his seventh win of the fall by making a pair of saves for the Warriors, while sophomore Jake Castro (Swansea, Mass.) matched his career-high with 13 stops in the setback for UMass Dartmouth. Eastern Connecticut outshot the Corsairs by a 30-7 margin overall (17-3 on goal) and took 13 of the 14 corner kicks in the contest.
UMass Dartmouth heads to Fitchburg, Mass. on Wednesday evening to take on Fitchburg State in a non-league outing beginning at 7:00 pm, while Eastern Connecticut hosts Elms in a non-conference clash on Tuesday evening at McCarthy Field that also begins at 7:00 pm.
