Alicia Kutil Tabbed Player of Week for Fifth Time
PAWTUCKET, R.I. – University of Massachusetts Dartmouth senior Alicia Kutil (Franklin, Mass.) was selected as the Little East Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the third consecutive report on Monday after she helped the Corsairs post a 3-0 mark.  Kutil also earned a spot on the New England Women's Basketball Association (NEWBA) honor roll.
Kutil powered the UMass Dartmouth offensive attack this past week, averaging 20.3 points, 5.3 rebounds, 2.0 blocks, and 2.0 steals. The Franklin, Mass. product shot 45.2 percentage (24-for-53) from the field, 50 percent (3-for-6) from long range, and 77 percent (10-for-13) from the charity stripe to reach double figures in scoring in all three contests.

Kutil etched her name into the Corsair record books on Saturday, scoring 25 points to set the all-time scoring record in a victory over Eastern Connecticut.  The power forward raised her career total to 1,324 points, to put a single point between the previous record holder (Cathy Johnson, 1986).  Kutil knocked a three-pointer from the right wing with 40 seconds remaining in regulation to complete the milestone.  She converted 11 of 20 attempts from the floor, including a pair from behind the three-point arc, and pulled in nine rebounds to help UMass Dartmouth earn at least a share of the conference regular-season title.

Three days earlier, Kutil netted 18 points and collected four boards to lift the Corsairs past second-place UMass Boston.  On Feb. 5, she netted 18 points in a non-conference win at Worcester State.
A starter in all 23 games, Kutil leads the Little East Conference in total points (458), while ranking third in points per game (19.9), fourth in free throw percentage (75.7), fourth in rebounds per game (8.0), and fifth in field goal percentage (48.9).  She has reached double digits in scoring in 22 contests, while posting seven double-doubles.  Kutil produced career-highs in points (33) and rebounds (18) in the win at Western Connecticut on Jan. 27. She has been named the conference's top player five weeks on the campaign.
UMass Dartmouth will return to action at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 14, when the Corsairs travel to Rhode Island College.  UMass Dartmouth will recognize its three seniors and wrap up the regular-season against Keene State College on Saturday, Feb. 17. Tip-off against the Owls is scheduled for 1pm.
