Field Hockey Drops 3-1 Non-League Decision To Wellesley

DARTMOUTH, Mass. --  Senior Haley Chrobock (Branchville, N.J.) netted a first half natural hat trick as Wellesley presented Head Coach Julia King with her 100th career victory in a 3-1 non-league college field hockey triumph over UMass Dartmouth Wednesday evening at Cressy Field.

Chrobock converted feeds from fellow senior Rachel Hwang (Campbell, Calif.) in the 12th and 24th minutes of action to stake the visiting Blue (6-10) to the early lead, and she completed her hat trick in the 28th minute with an unassisted marker.  Senior Mary Brown (Leicester, Mass.) sliced the host Corsairs’ (2-15) deficit after taking a pass from freshman Kylie Dias (Fall River, Mass.) for her team-leading seventh tally of the season, as that goal accounted for the final margin in the contest.

Sophomore Janelle Sullivan (Philadelphia, Pa.) picked up the win in goal with a three-save effort for Wellesley, while senior Allison Burke (Franklin, Mass.) made 33 stops (the second highest single-game total of her career) in the setback for UMass Dartmouth.  The Blue outshot the Corsairs by a 47-13 margin overall (37-9 on goal) and held a 6-4 edge in penalty corners for the evening.

UMass Dartmouth hosts Southern Maine in a Little East Conference match on Friday afternoon at Cressy Field beginning at 3:15 pm, while Wellesley entertains Wheaton in its New England Women’s & Men’s Athletic Conference regular season finale on Saturday afternoon in Wellesley, Mass. that begins at Noon.
