Field Hockey Falls By 4-0 Final To #19 Babson

DARTMOUTH, Mass. --  Four different players scored goals to back a combined shutout in net from sophomore Cassidy Riley (Catonsville, Md.) and junior Madison Adler (Stratham, N.H.), as 19th-ranked Babson notched a 4-0 non-league college field hockey victory UMass Dartmouth Thursday evening at Cressy Field.

Sophomore Quinn Greer (Providence, R.I.) gave the visiting Beavers (7-3) the only tally they would need 7:01 into the match on a feed from fellow sophomore Millie Brady (Far Hills, N.J.) off a penalty corner, and senior Kate Driscoll (Milton, Mass.) extended that margin to 2-0 just over six minutes later on Brady’s second penalty corner assist.  Senior Carla DiBiase’s (Winchester, Mass.) unassisted marker with 1:55 remaining in the half gave Babson a 3-0 cushion at the break, and the visitors closed out the scoring with 1:09 to play after freshman Brianne McGrath (Newmarket, Ont.) tallied on Brady’s third penalty corner assist of the night to account for the final margin.

Riley made one save over the first three quarters of action to collect her seventh win of the season for the Beavers, which received a fourth quarter stop from Adler.  Junior Katelyn Banalewicz (Fall River, Mass.) registered 14 saves in the setback for the host Corsairs (3-6), as Babson outshot UMass Dartmouth by a 29-2 margin overall (18-2 on goal) and held a 17-2 advantage in penalty corners for the contest.

UMass Dartmouth hosts Plymouth State in a Little East Conference outing on Saturday afternoon at Cressy Field beginning at 3:00 pm, while Babson travels to South Hadley, Mass. on Saturday afternoon for a New England Women’s & Men’s Athletic Conference clash with Mount Holyoke that begins at 2:00 pm.
