Klash Honored By Little East Conference

DARTMOUTH, Mass. – UMass Dartmouth freshman Danielle Klash (Gardiner, Mass.) earned her third Little East Conference Rookie Swimmer of the Week award this afternoon following her performance at Clark (Mass.) on Saturday.  Earlier this season, Klash captured the top rookie swimmer award in consecutive weeks, spanning October 28 and Nov. 4, 2019.

Klash was the only Corsair to earn multiple victories in the dual meet against the Cougars on Saturday.  The native of Gardiner, Mass. registered a personal best in the 500-yard freestyle, when she hit the timing pad at 5:42.92.  Klash captured the 1,000-yard freestyle race in a time of 11:49.10.  She also anchored the 400-yard freestyle relay team to a second-place performance with a combined time of 4:03.98.

Klash has made an immediate impact in the pool for UMass Dartmouth during her rookie campaign.  She currently sits atop the Little East Conference individual leaderboard in two events.  Klash covered the 1,000-yard freestyle race in a time of 11:28.27 at Roger Williams, while stopping the timer at 19:40.33 in the 1650-yard freestyle at the Louise Goodrum Invitational.  Her recent 500-yard freestyle time from Clark is second in the conference circuit.

UMass Dartmouth will return to action at 1pm on Dec. 7, when the Corsairs travel to Westfield State to face Colby Sawyer and the Owls in a tri-meet.
