Final Stats

NORTH DARTMOUTH, MA-The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's swimming team swept visiting Colby-Sawyer in their final regular season home meet at the Tripp Athletic Center Saturday. The women won, 166-101, while the men were victorious, 137-102.

For the women, sophomore Kim Moore (Billerica, MA/Billerica HS), senior Kathleen Foley (Haverhill, MA/Haverhill HS) and freshman Cecelia Rius (Rockville, MD/Richard Montgomery HS) were double winners. Moore won the 500 yard freestyle in 5:47.16 and the 1000 freestyle in 11:36.36, Foley took the 50 yard breaststroke in 33.47 seconds and the 100 breaststroke in 1:12.29, and Rius won the one-meter diving competition with 190.20 points and the three-meter diving with 159.30 points. Freshman Morgan Cooper (Sunderland, MA/Frontier Regional HS) won the100 yard freestyle in 58.52 seconds, freshman Meredith Maki (Holden, MA/Wachusett Regional HS) took the 50 yard backstroke in 31.91 seconds, junior Lindsay Little (Danvers, MA/Danvers HS) won the 200 yard freestyle in 2:15.48, and the 400 yard medley relay team of Maki, Foley, Cooper and freshman Maggie Conlon (Methuen, MA/Methuen HS) finished first in 4:28.04.

For the men, freshman Chris Dodge (Holden, MA/Wachusett Regional HS) won two events, taking the 50 yard backstroke in 28.02 seconds, and the 100 yard backstroke in 1:00.49. Freshman Nathan O'Keefe (Taunton, MA/Coyle-Cassidy HS) won the one-meter diving with 224.63 points, junior Craig Johnson (Acushnet, MA/New Bedford HS) took the 200 yard butterfly in 2:10.87, junior Steve Szarek (Middletown, CT/Middletown HS) won the 100 breaststroke in 1:04.26, freshman Matt Dean (Londonderry, NH/Londonderry HS) took the 100 freestyle in 52.61 seconds, junior Joe Krzystofik (Chicopee, MA/Chicopee HS) won the 1000 freestyle in 11:26.26, junior Andrew Haughey (West Springfield, MA/West Springfield HS) won the 200 freestyle in 1:58.49, and the 400 yard medley relay team of Dodge, Szarek, Johnson and freshman Jake Pesante (Wakefield, RI/South Kingston HS) finished first in 5:52.12.

"This was a great way for us to finish our regular season," said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach Cathy Motta. "We are maintaining fast swims, while keeping up with yardage. It will be exciting to see how fast our team is going to swim in a couple of weeks. This will be one of the largest teams that we have ever taken to New Englands."

UMass Dartmouth's women are now 6-5, while the men are now 4-3. Colby-Sawyer's women are now 4-5, while the men are now 3-4.

The Corsairs will return to action when they visit the New England Diving Championships next weekend. The Chargers will also be in action at that meet.
