Women's Tennis Drops 7-2 Non-League Decision To Division II Bentley

DARTMOUTH, Mass. --  Sophomore Alessa Matuty (San Pedro Sula, Honduras) and freshman Zoe Chin (Lexington, Mass.) each notched wins in both singles and doubles play to lead Bentley to a 7-2 non-league college women’s tennis dual-match victory over UMass Dartmouth Thursday afternoon on the UMD Courts.

Matuty and Chin collected straight set singles triumphs at the top two spots in the lineup for the visiting Falcons (3-1), and the duo teamed up for an 8-4 win at number one doubles.  Sophomore Cindy Luo (Stamford, Conn.) joined freshmen Anna Higgins (Andover, Mass.) and Miruna Constantin (Ploiesti, Romania) in recording straight set singles victories for Bentley, which received its other doubles point at the number three position (8-2) from the tandem of sophomore Alyssa Cook (New Castle, N.H.) and freshman Grace Bennett (Paxton, Mass.).

Junior Michelle Aftandilian (Watertown, Mass.) collected wins in both singles and doubles action in the setback for the host Corsairs (4-2), as she earned a pro-set win at number three singles before teaming up with fellow junior Jordan Martin (Taunton, Mass.) for an 8-7 (7-5) triumph at number two doubles.

UMass Dartmouth heads to Castleton, Vt. on Saturday afternoon for a Little East Conference dual-match with Castleton beginning at 2:00 pm, while Bentley travels to Colchester, Vt. on Saturday afternoon for a Northeast-10 Conference clash with Saint Michael’s that begins at Noon.
