DARTMOUTH, Mass. -- Sophomore Emilia Czapiewska (Saint Paul, Minn.) notched eight kills, 10 digs and five service aces as UMass Boston clinched a share of the Little East Conference volleyball regular season championship with a 3-0 league victory over UMass Dartmouth Tuesday evening at the Tripp Athletic Center.
Junior Sarah Doyle (Glendale, Calif.) added eight kills, two service aces and two total blocks in the visiting Beacons’ (16-8, 7-1 LEC) 25-18, 25-18, 25-19 triumph, while freshman Marcelle Tiscareno (El Paso, Tex.) collected six kills and three block solos on the night. Senior Rachel Maslach (Berlin Center, Ohio) chipped in with five kills for UMass Boston, which received four kills and six digs from senior Eileen Shi (San Francisco, Calif.). Senior Christina Elliott (Camas, Wash.) and sophomore Carsen Komminsk (Worthington, Ohio) combined for 26 set assists for the Beacons, who received 10 digs and three set assists from senior Macayla Chianco (Clearwater, Fla.).
Senior Amanda LaCroix (East Freetown, Mass.) registered seven kills and five digs in the setback for the host Corsairs (9-16, 1-6 LEC), who received four kills, 110 digs and a pair of service aces from junior Nicole Silverman (Chelmsford, Mass.) as well as four kills from junior Samantha Sedano (Valley Glen, Calif.). Senior Kristy Walton (Fairhaven, Mass.) added three kills for UMass Dartmouth, which received 10 set assists and six digs from sophomore Riley Thomas (Fairhaven, Mass.) along with 11 digs and a service ace from junior Jillian Sykora (Waterford, Conn.).
UMass Dartmouth closes out its 2018 slate on Saturday afternoon by heading to Plymouth, N.H. to take on Plymouth State in a Little East Conference match that begins at Noon, while UMass Boston travels to Waltham, Mass. on Saturday afternoon for a non-league clash with Brandeis beginning at 1:00 pm.
