WORCESTER, Mass. -- Senior Amari King (Lawrence, Mass.) recorded 12 kills and six digs to lead Worcester State to a 3-0 non-league college volleyball victory over UMass Dartmouth by game scores of 25-9, 25-20 and 25-18 in a match played Thursday evening on Brissette Court.
Senior Emily Carens (Northboro, Mass.) added four kills and five digs in the triumph for the host Lancers (13-7), who received four kills and five service aces from junior Stephanie Chapin (Hampden, Mass.) along with four kills, four total blocks and three digs from senior Lauren Murphy (Taunton, Mass.). Senior Allie Nolan (Melrose, Mass.) chipped in with 27 set assists for Worcester State, which received 15 digs from senior Megan Leavens (Storrs, Conn.).
Junior Samantha Sedano (Valley Glen, Calif.) notched nine kills, seven digs and three service aces in the setback for the visiting Corsairs (7-12), who received seven kills and seven digs from senior Amanda LaCroix (East Freetown, Mass.). Senior Kristy Walton (Fairhaven, Mass.) and freshman Molly Porch (New Hartford, Conn.) each added four kills and combined for three digs for UMass Dartmouth, which received a combined 25 set assists from junior Jordan Rittberger (Huntington, N.Y.) and sophomore Riley Thomas (Fairhaven, Mass.) as well as 11 digs and three service aces from junior Jillian Sykora (Waterford, Conn.).
UMass Dartmouth hosts Castleton and Emerson in a tri-match on Saturday afternoon at the Tripp Athletic Center beginning at Noon, while Worcester State welcomes Framingham State and Clark to Brissette Court for a tri-match on Saturday afternoon that also begins at Noon.
