NASHUA, N.H. -- The UMass Dartmouth volleyball team dropped a non-league tri-match decision to Framingham State and host Rivier in contests played Saturday afternoon at Muldoon Gymnasium, as the Corsairs by a 3-2 margin to the Rams in the opener and fell by a 3-0 final to the Raiders in the nightcap.
Sophomore Mallory Singer (Succasunna, N.J.) registered 12 kills and five digs in UMass Dartmouth’s (5-9) 19-25, 25-12, 17-25, 25-23, 15-11 opening setback to Framingham State (10-9), while senior Nicole Silverman (Chelmsford, Mass.) added a double-double effort of 11 kills, 16 digs and three service aces. Sophomore Emma Aillet (Deer Park, Tex.) collected 10 kills for the Corsairs, which received 37 set assists and six digs from senior Jordan Rittberger (Huntington, N.Y.), 25 digs from senior Jillian Sykora (Waterford, Conn.) and 15 digs from freshman Vanessa Barreto (Natick, Mass.).
Silverman notched eight kills and six digs in UMass Dartmouth’s 25-21, 25-18, 25-19 setback to host Rivier (13-5) in its second outing of the day, while Aillet and junior Tashneal Africa (Chelsea, Mass.) combined for nine kills. Freshman Courtney Carreiro (Dartmouth, Mass.) chipped in with 10 set assists and three digs for the Corsairs, who received eight set assists and three digs from Rittberger and a combined 15 digs from Sykora and senior Meghan Mullinax (Lake Balboa, Calif.).
UMass Dartmouth hosts Bridgewater State in a non-league outing on Tuesday evening at the Tripp Athletic Center beginning at 7:00 pm, while Framingham State entertains Becker in a non-league match on Tuesday evening in Framingham, Mass. that begins at 6:00 pm. Rivier heads into Boston Wednesday evening for a Great Northeast Athletic Conference clash with Simmons beginning at 7:00 pm.
