PLYMOUTH, N.H. -- The UMass Dartmouth volleyball team split a tri-match with host Plymouth State and Husson on Saturday afternoon at Foley Gymnasium, as the Corsairs dropped a 3-1 Little East Conference decision to the Panthers before notching a 3-1 non-league triumph over the Eagles.
Senior Nicole Silverman (Chelmsford, Mass.) recorded nine kills and 11 digs in UMass Dartmouth’s (4-8, 0-2 LEC) 25-21, 19-25, 25-17, 25-17 setback to Plymouth State (18-1, 1-0 LEC), while juniors Tashneal Africa (Chelsea, Mass.) and Alivia Connors (Derry, N.H.) combined with sophomore Mallory Singer (Succasunna, N.J.) for 15 kills. Senior Jordan Rittberger (Huntington, N.Y.) collected 12 set assists in the opening setback for the Corsairs, who received 17 digs from senior Jillian Sykora (Waterford, Conn.).
Silverman notched 13 kills, seven digs and a pair of service aces in UMass Dartmouth’s 25-20, 22-25, 25-18, 25-15 nightcap triumph over Husson (4-12), as sophomore Emma Aillet (Deer Park, Tex.) added seven kills and freshman Nora Craft (Shrewsbury, Mass.) chipped in with five kills and three service aces. Rittberger added four kills, nine set assists and eight digs for the Corsairs, which received 16 set assists and five digs from junior Riley Thomas (Fairhaven, Mass.) along with 16 digs and nine set assists from Sykora.
UMass Dartmouth hosts UMass Boston in a Little East Conference match on Wednesday evening at the Tripp Athletic Center beginning at 6:00 pm, while Plymouth State heads to Gorham, Maine for a Little East clash with Southern Maine that begins at 7:00 pm. Husson entertains Colby in a non-conference outing on Wednesday evening in Bangor, Maine beginning at 7:00 pm.
