NORTH DARTMOUTH, MA-The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's volleyball team split their Little East Conference matches with visiting Eastern Connecticut State and Southern Maine on the final day of the regular season at the Tripp Athletic Center Saturday. After losing to ECSU in four games, 16-25, 25-16, 25-17 and 23, the Corsairs downed Southern Maine in three, 25-14, 25-13 and 25-17. The Colonials defeated the Huskies in three games, 25-17, 25-19 and 25-19.

In the first match, freshman setter Jess Goncalves (New Bedford, MA/New Bedford HS) had 26 assists, while sophomore outside hitter Allie Mastrocola (Swansea, MA/Case HS) led the Corsairs with 11 kills and junior outside hitter Eleni Tsaparakis (Norwalk, CT/Norwalk HS) and sophomore middle hitter Cami Ascher (Natick, MA/Natick HS) contributed eight apiece. Senior middle blocker Amanda Langfield (Somerset, MA/Somerset HS) added five blocks, and sophomore libero Shannon Brodie (Chelmsford, MA/Chelmsford HS) added 11 digs. In the nightcap, freshman outside hitter Liandra Pellegrini (Canton, MA/Canton HS) had eight kills, while junior outside hitter Lauren Safioleas (New Bedford, MA/New Bedford HS) contributed six kills and three aces, while senior libero Aly Zagame (Greenfield, MA/Greenfield HS) and sophomore libero Stacey Miner (Greenfield, MA/Greenfield HS) each had seven digs.

"Against Eastern Connecticut, we played well in the first three games, but, unfortunately, we made 13 errors in the fourth game that resulted in points. We're disappointed that we weren't able to make a bigger dent in the Little East Conference, but you can't be upset with an 18-10 record. We doubled our wins from two years ago, and we tripled our wins from three years ago, but we still need to get bigger and stronger and more experienced."

UMass Dartmouth is now 18-10 and 1-6 in the Little East Conference, while ECSU is now 12-17 and 2-5 and Southern Maine is now 4-19 and 0-7. Eastern Connecticut will begin action in the Little East Conference Tournament Tuesday night. The match was the final competition of the season for UMass Dartmouth and Southern Maine.
